Damn, wasn't expecting that... I got a daily deviation on my Boots Riley joint from a few years ago. Funny and ironic story about that piece. Boots Riley himself actually kinda hustled me on that joint. The irony is I originally did that because I was inspired by "Fat cats, Bigga Fish" off the Coup's 1st album, which I sweated since high school and at the time I did the illy, I was bumping it a lot again. Eventually Boots came across it and he and his manager started contacting me and asked if they could use it for promo (like tee) purposes, and we did a quick sort of contract agreement... So I hand over the art, and agreed that it would be a couple of months before I could see some scratch from it. It's been about 5 years, and I've yet to see ANY scratch from it! But I'm hearing from cats in like Poland and Sweden that they bought the shirt at a concert. WTF! The irony being that the track that inspired this whole piece was about hustling cats out of free shit. Why didn't I see it coming? Hahahaha. Now I'm getting ripped off by professional musicians.

Awesome story, gotta love that irony :/ You're being pretty good about it too hah

Congrats on the DD :) I just about never come here any more because I've found I get way more attention and excellent feedback on other sites; I'm suprised you've stuck around so long, your work is so amazing it doesn't get the attention it deserves, on here. Maybe things are looking up ey ;P

I have a portfolio on Behance.net, which just keeps proving to be so useful to me. I got the great job I have today because my boss was looking through Behance for local designers. I didn't even have to look for work, it just came to me! :P And when I first finished university and was offered a job (not this one) I had all of 1 day to get an online portfolio together, and my Behance one proved fine for the job (since I didn't have a personal website). I got the job, it was just short-term.

Another is Society6, which is great for illustrators/ indie style artists. I need to use that one more because it has ridiculous amounts of opportunities (hook-ups with threadless and various other big companies that will pay good money for your work - i.e. Blik who I'd LOVE to do work for.)

Aaannd… the good ol' Facebook hah. That one's proven to be the most effective for creating a bit of a fan base, and reminding me that people actually like what I do. I don't know if you ever get this, but I'm constantly believing that no-one is interested in the work I do. Once I started posting my work to Facebook I suddenly discovered that there is demand for my work! And putting it up there I get insane amounts of great, instant feedback. Unlike DA, or tbh anywhere else!

Congrats man.

About time a talented, and good ass artist gets a DD.

I only say that cos at times I wonder just whom the heck just hands them shits out.. like WOW.. REALLY??

Not that I'm hatin' on cats either or their art direction, but damn.. like honestly.. just SOMETIMES, it's appalling..

Anyway, it sucks they didn't have anything to say on the piece too, you know? they coulda pointed something out.. but I guess no words are better than some.

Lol.
